carpenter ants in elm trees

Posted on July 2, 2015 Written by admin Leave a Comment

I have carpenter ants in 2 elm trees. Whats the best products you have that will take care of problem? I also have small pet (dog).

If you review our CARPENTER ANT CONTROL article, you’ll learn there are a few options available. In general, the best approach is to combine a bait with a “non repellent” spray if you can’t reach them directly with DRIONE DUST. Drione, as our article explains, is fast acting and if the nest is within reach, the way to go. Use a HAND DUSTER to apply it and expect instant results if you hit the nest directly.

Now if you can’t reach the nests directly, use the bait and non repellent spray option. This involves applying CARPENTER ANT GEL to the trunk of the trees, around 3-6 feet up, with each dab around the size of a grain of rice. Make 10-20 of these dabs which will quickly be found and consumed by the foraging ants.

Next, spray PHANTOM at the base of the tree as well as the ground. Apply it to any trails you see in the yard or on the home. Carpenter ants won’t notice the Phantom and will readily walk over the treatment. But since Phantom is a slow acting material, it will have a chance to infiltrate and transfer to other members of the nest so when it does kick in 3-4 days after the initial exposure, the impact will be profound. In most cases, if the Gel doesn’t get them, the Phantom will.

Lastly, all our products are safe for use in and around the home where people are active. There are some general safety guidelines you should follow like keeping the pets away when treating but once dry, they can enter and go about their regular routine with no hazard present. More info on how safe our products are to use can be found here:

carpenter ant granules for yard

Posted on June 28, 2012 Written by admin Leave a Comment

I’ve treated around the house for termites and in the garage for Carpenter ants now I want to know what granules that I can use all over my yard. My yard is bad with ants, don’t know what kind they are. Can you help?

If you read through our CARPENTER ANT CONTROL article, you’ll see all the products we recommend for controlling this pest. In this article you’ll read about ADVANCE CARPENTER ANT BAIT. This is a fine granule that all ants love and is highly effective at controlling any ant that might be foraging in your yard. So for now, I recommend getting some of this and applying it to any area you’re seeing any activity. Keep in mind it won’t take much to handle any nest so no need to over apply.

carpenter ants in window

Posted on March 17, 2012 Written by admin Leave a Comment

Can you give me an email and let me know how to find them all and get rid of them? Do you offer services or just sell the product? They are in my window. I keep seeing saw dust. Lots of it. Thanks in advance.

We don’t actually do service work but we are wholesalers to the pest control industry and what they use you can get direct from us and do the work yourself. The main benefit of doing this is to save on the cost because certain pest control services – especially for carpenter ants – can be quite costly. As our CARPENTER ANT CONTROL ARTICLE explains, carpenter ants can do a lot of damage and do a good job of hiding so treating for them can be tricky. The only exception to this is when you get lucky and somehow know where they’re nesting. And based on your message, it sounds like you know exactly where they’re located!

For now, review the article and focus on the section that talks about using the DRIONE DUST. This is really what you need. There are 1-2 videos on this dust and you need to watch them because it will explain why this is the right product for you. To treat, you’ll need is a few small holes to access the wall void just under and to the side of the window where you’re finding the sawdust. In these small holes you’ll pump the Drione and when you hit the nest, you’ll likely see 25-50 come out and die. Within an hour the problem should be resolved and handled.

Next spray the foundation with some TERMIDOR we have listed and this will take care of any stragglers that may have been away from the nest when you dust it. By getting the stragglers, you’ll insure the nest won’t come back.

Give us a call if you have further questions but really, this is a pretty easy job to do when you know where the nest is located like you do. Here are direct links to the information and products listed above:
